AR We know that you are working to support your child as a reader and we want to share that you can check if the books you have at home or have checked out of the local Kent County library are AR by going to the Renaissance website at this link: http://www.renlearn.com/store/quiz_home.asp (This is hyperlinked to the site if you are receiving this by email! Hold down CTRL and click on the text and away you go!) At that site you will be able to type in the title of a book to see if it currently has a test available to take. There are 130, 000 titles and the list is ever growing!!
This chart relates the numeric level with the color level. We really need your help having shared the numeric information with you. We want the kids to focus on looking for the correct colors rather than specific number level. It is not intended for anyone to think of this as a hierarchy, but rather a progression of reading books that increase in difficulty to meet the goals of all students. The students also see the overlap of their color choices and feel like they have many other classmates that have at least one of their colors to choose from when picking out AR books. The numbers are there for adults, to help us better match readers to the best books for them to read at any given time. Thanks for being conscious of this and supporting our use of colors v. numeric levels with kids.
